About Me

Hey ya’ll-

Thank you for stopping by! Welcome to Ginger in the Kitchen! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always loved being in the kitchen. Experimenting with different recipes and jumping in to help whoever was cooking or baking at the time.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with a rare severe form of Crohn’s disease, no warning signs, just all of the sudden my health took a turn for the worse and things were never the same. I wanted to be a teacher my whole life, I received my bachelors degree in elementary & math education. But little did I know the road my health would soon take me down didn’t allow me to work around children anymore due to my compromised immune system. On top of that I was given strict dietary restrictions and had to navigate food all over again seeing how my body would respond.

As much as my life continued to change, the one thing that remained constant was my love for watching cooking shows, reading through cookbooks as if they were novels, strolling down the grocery aisles brainstorming recipe ideas, and most of all being in the kitchen or as my husband calls it, my happy place. I may not be able to eat most of the food I cook anymore, but I haven’t lost my passion for feeding others and seeing how much they enjoy it.
